Why Is Maspeth So Awesome?

Maspeth is an awesome town to live in for a plethora of reasons. The main attractions about this area are the low costs, easy commute times, amazing accessibility to shopping malls, and peace & quiet.

Commuting to the city is quick. It takes just 40 to 50 minutes to go from Maspeth to Midtown by taking the Q58 to Queens Boulevard, then taking the R to 74th Roosevelt Ave and taking the E train to 34th Penn Station or 23rd St to go to Chelsea. It's as simple as that. The best part about this commute is that you are right in the heart of Queens and not that far off from the city as well. You are close to gorgeous towns such as Middle Village or Rego Park, where one of the best Trader Joes is at FYI. You are also next to Ridgewood, Queens Village, Queens Boulevard, Sunnyside, Woodside, and more. All of these towns or areas are quiet with a robust shopping experience. Queens Village is actually a village where it has stores and restaurants, such as Outback steakhouse, that are huddled next to each other along with accessible parking.

The best part about Maspeth is the peace and quiet. It is one of those towns in Queens where you can expect radio silence at night, and just a line of gorgeous tiny homes ranging from 1,000 to 2,500 square feet. Many of these homes contain 1 to 2 parking garages and ample public parking space which is unique in and of itself. A lot of these homes also contain a small plot of land so you can expect some greenery in the frontage or back part of the home. Being at such close proximity to Manhattan and really good areas of Brooklyn, this is a gem in Queens.

Maspeth is incredibly affordable. You can expect a spectrum of prices ranging from $500,000 to north of $1,000,000 all depending on the square footage, style of home, number of garages, and number of bedrooms. That's why Maspeth is so great. You have options to pay as little or as much as you want and get value either way. Most of these houses are also renovated, which is fantastic. Many other homes for the same prices aren't renovated in other towns. Would you rather pay for a $500,000 3 bedroom 1,000 square foot house in Maspeth; or would you rather a 2 bedroom Condo in Queens Village for the same price or $150,000 lower? I'd take the house any day!

One of the curious aspects about Maspeth is that though the population is fairly low at 50,000, there are a lot of active sellers and buyers, vis-a-vis, in the area. It's such a unique and relatively unknown town that it has a lot of value buys alongside lucrative sells in the market.
