The Guardian Tiger of ancient Korean lore had finally revealed itself.
At this point, it had become a legend because nobody had ever seen it for hundreds of years. Prior paintings of this tiger, made when it was last seen, had shown a tiger with vibrant yellow fur. But when the tiger had revealed itself, its coat was pearl white.
According to legend, there was once a Bear and a Tiger that wished to become human. So, they prayed to their god and finally, had gotten an answer. To become humans, they had to pass a trial which was to eat mugwort and garlic for 100 days while meditating in a cave.
The Bear was successful and transformed into a beautiful woman. But the Tiger failed and, after only 20 days, retreated into the forest. After failing this, the Tiger experienced new trials and tribulations. And after years of perseverance gained knowledge of life. During that time, its fur had lost its yellow luster and faded to white. The Tiger's white coat was now a badge of honor that symbolized the knowledge it had obtained with effort. With this knowledge came a sacred duty to pass them on to the next generation.
