The Wolverine Drug: BPC 157
Since my last experiment(s): SR-9011, Dihexa, NSI-189, 9-ME-BC, and Turkesterone or Ecdysterone, I hunted to find the next compound. Soon after, I found a potential drug called BPC-157. If it was viable, I planned to take it for 30 days in order to document my results. Here, I'll talk about what I found regarding this drug, the side effects, the positives, the negatives, what I would use it for, and what I'll do to minimize downside risks.
The Wolverine Drug
BPC-157, shorthand for "Body Protection Compound, is a chain of 15 amino acids strung by peptide bonds. Originally sourced from proteins found in human gastric juices, it is then synthetically designed in a lab. The reason they call this the wolverine drug, is because it promotes rapid tissue healing as well as gut health.
Imagine if you had a career-defining ACL surgery with a recovery time of 1
year. Imagine cutting that recovery time in half, or even a quarter, using
this peptide? You would be ecstatic!
And it's not only for healing, whether it be for gut health or post-surgery.
Athletes also use this to speed up their recovery from high intensity
workouts.
Side Effects
Researchers did a study on rats and found, after slashing their Achilles
tendons, that rodents on BPC-157 healed significantly quicker than their
counterparts. The net effect was increased fibroblast growth factor leading to
quick tissue and blood vessel regrowth.
Most human experiences of BPC-157 were anecdotal, but there was a small study
done on humans where people with preexisting injuries at various stages of
recovery, were put on BPC-157. It seemed to mimic the results of the rats. The humans also seemed to recover at a rapid rate.
The main side effects found were angiogenesis leading to creation of new blood
vessels and arteries creating increased blood flow. Other effects were
increased fibroblast growth factor which is responsible for providing initial
support to tissue injury. Additionally, it provided support for gut health
with many advocating that it can help with inflammation of the gut alongside
other stomach concerns.
As more people take BPC-157, there will undoubtedly be more anecdotal evidence of any potential negative effects.
First, I'd like to mention the delivery methods. There are two main ways to
intake the compound: Orally via capsules and subcutaneously via
injection.
Many people have different responses based on the delivery of the drug. If it is taken by someone who wants to
heal their stomach issues, when ingested in capsule form, stomach acids can create initial
pain or inflammation. But afterwards, it slowly begins to take effect.
People who want to invoke increased recovery rate for bodybuilding, athletics,
or post-surgical care may rather want to opt in for the injections. Injections have quicker absorption rates and can be used on specific body sites. However, in many people, the quicker efficacy of the
subcutaneous injection can create negative effects like Anhedonia. Anhedonia
is a mental state or feeling of lack of pleasure.
Many people suggest that this is due to the gut being a repository for
neurotransmitters like serotonin, dopamine, GABA, norepinephrine, and
epinephrine. That's why many people associate the gut-brain connection as
these neurotransmitters found in the gut can directly impact cognition and
mood in the brain. As a result, everyone's reaction to it can differ. Anecdotally, many
have said that it's like a purging process where symptoms can initially
feel bad before it gets better.
Second, there is a theory that the angiogenesis benefits of this drug can also
create potential cancer threats as do many other peptides. This is because creation of new blood vessels
can feed any cancerous cells that may be in the body. So, it may be wise to
note that if one has preexisting cancer issues within their family, to minimize downside risk, which I will talk about later.
The positive impacts are numerous. Because of its direct benefit within the gut, it can heal symptoms like leaky gut or stomach ulcers. Doing so
can have metabolic and cellular benefits throughout the body.
In addition, the aspect of tissue healing can create performance enhancing
benefits for athletes or enhanced post-surgical recovery for others.
It may also act as a preventative and antiaging measure, where it promotes
internal healing thereby slowing the aging process.
Whether taken orally or subcutaneously, the effects it has on the gut could
lead to long term positive impacts cognitively since the gut is home to many
neurotransmitters.
Being able to digest food better could enhance metabolic pathways which lead
to improved circadian rhythm, mood, and cellular processes. Additionally, the
speeding up of tissue healing can impact sports performance, injury
prevention, and aging.
Use Case for Alex Sung NYC
My body is in great shape, but as I get older, recovery time
is imperceptibly slowing. Now, recovery is of utmost importance to me which means I do less throughout the day. The biggest reason for using this is to maximize my productivity.
Since this will directly help with inflammation of my gut and tissue, I'll be
able to maximize my training time in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu or MMA. Also, my
financial goals. Presently, I noticed that if I focus too much on Brazilian Jiu
Jitsu or MMA, my entrepreneurial-financial goals will suffer and vice-versa.
Recovery is not only important to maximize my productivity, but it is also to maintain my body to slow down the aging process. Being
able to rebuild tissue while helping the gut will also benefit skin cells,
cellular health, metabolism, and sleep. The goal is to promote rapid recovery and
retention for my body and skin to maximize myself.
Minimizing Downsides
In order to minimize the low yet potential threat of cancer, I plan on stacking this with
SR-9011
which is a synthetic agonist that promotes circadian rhythm but also acts as a
barrier to tumors especially those found in lung cancer.
The other downside risk, which is only anecdotal, is of cognition and mental health. Since this compound
affects the gut which is home to neurotransmitters that impact mood and brain
health. To prevent drastic impacts, I'll be taking this drug orally where I'll
monitor how my body and mind feels to adjust the dosage accordingly. To adjust
dosage, I will be looking at taking this either once a day or once every other
day, et. al., depending on how I feel.
